This is the Day 1 of our 5 Days/4 Nights DIY Itinerary.
We arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 at around 2:30am and since we already paid the Travel Tax (Php1,620) online, we went straight to the self check-in kiosks, get our boarding pass and went to the immigration. No questions asked to me from the Immigration Officer but Kambal was questioned on his purpose of travel. We mentioned that we’ll be attending a wedding and she even looked at the invitation and said that she’ll monitor us. Okay fine, no worries because we’ll behave lol. We went to the boarding gate 205 and wait for the departure time. Our schedule should be 5:30am but Oh yeah, as usual there’s a delay for take-off due to air traffic. Bring ballpen with you because you have to fill up a visitor’s form which you have to present at the HK Immigration. We arrived at Hong Kong International Airport few minutes before 9:00am.We don’t have checked in baggage so we went straight ahead to ride the Airport Express going to Kowloon. We purchased Airport Express Direct QR Tickets at Klook (Php454.00) which is the fastest way going to the city for more or less 24minutes. At Kowloon station, you can ride their free shuttle bus going to your hotel or nearest to your hotel. Please check their schedule and drop offs. We booked our hostel at Agoda (Php8,437.44 for 5days/4nights good for 2) which is cheaper than others. Good thing that two of the receptionists are Filipinas. Yes we chose to stay at a hostel because it’s a lot cheaper and we’ll just basically used it to sleep.
After lunch, we walked around and spend some time at the Kowloon Park, changed clothes then went to the China Ferry Terminal which is walking distance from our hostel to catch a ride to Macau.
Supposedly, we’ll book a ticket at Klook but because of unpredictable schedule or delay from our flight, we opt to buy ticket at the terminal (Turbojet) which costs us HKD160 instead of HKD171. Don’t forget to bring your passport with you for Immigration purposes. Again, you’ll have to fill up a visitor’s form because you’re entering another country. After more or less an hour ride, we finally arrived at Macau. Show your passport at the immigration and they’ll give you a permission of 30 days stay at Macau. Upon exit, you can see buses across the street and of course we chose to ride in the free shuttle bus going to The Venetian.
And yaaasss! It is time to explore the place and the famous Grand Canal. We’re not able to ride the gondola with serenade but got to see and compare it with what we have in BGC. A lot of walking around and you’ll see lot of shops and of course casinos. We tried to enter one and the man asked for our passport, maybe to confirm our age. Huge casino and though not all tables are occupied, there were still a lot of players.
We had dinner at their food court and it’s quite expensive but we have no choice because we’re hungry and the night is still young so we need more energy. Shortly after eating, we decided to transfer to the next hotel which is the Galaxy Macau.
What wonderful scenery from the outside, the lights and everything is so lit. I don’t know but I am in awe to see structures and designs like of those in Macau. Just like The Venetian, there were also luxury shops and casino. I can say that every corner is picture perfect. Then after roaming around, we thought of going to The Grand Lisboa but we need to ride a bus and it’s already 9:00pm so we just decided to go near Galaxy Macau.
Though it took us couple of minutes to walk towards The Parisian, we didn’t mind our sore feet because of the cold breeze and the fact that you’re spending quality time together.
When we arrived, we saw their version of the Eiffel Tower and it felt like you’re in Paris. You can actually go inside the tower but there is an entrance fee. Shops and casinos everywhere. The interiors of the 3 hotels are very nice.
Then after that, we crossed the street and reached Studio City which I think is not yet fully finished. I think kids will like here more than the previous ones. I know that our time is not enough to visit Macau because we were not able to see the famous St. Paul Ruins, Senado Square and Macau Tower but maybe we can visit here again. Its passed 11pm when we decided to go back to Hong Kong so we went back to The Parisian to ride their free shuttle bus going to the Macau Ferry Terminal. And yes, we’re the only passengers in the bus lol! It’s as if we rented that bus. We arrived at the terminal and bought a ticket but because it’s too late, the only sailing route is Macau to Hong Kong Island (no night sailing to Kowloon) which cost us 200HKD each. We left at 11:30pm, fell asleep and woke up just in time for our arrival. Imagine that feeling when you’re still sleepy but you have to go to the immigration to enter Hong Kong. During that time, what I had with me is my passport and my bag is with Kambal. We fell in line with different officers and when it’s my turn, I just gave my passport and suddenly the officer gave my passport to another officer and told me to go after him. Like whaaattt?? Why?? We walked few steps near their office and told me to sit down for a while. So I was asking myself where is Kambal? I am not that worried because I know I didn’t do anything illegal in Macau but I have nothing with me so I was asking myself how could I contact him? I am trying to stay calm because I know I am innocent lol. That officer came from one room to another and a girl officer passed by and she was also looking at me. Then another passenger came and he was asked to stay there as well. After 3-5 minutes I think , the officer called me and gave me my passport and I asked what’s the matter and he said “for checking records only” and I was like “Ahh okay so I can go now?”. Walking towards the exit, I saw Kambal waiting there for me. I felt relieved but it’s really unforgettable lol. So many what ifs. Literally nagising yung diwa ko kahit antok at pagod na ang paa ko. I guess that maybe the officer was wondering why I don’t have anything with me like bag and that I have 3 boarding passes on that day alone (MNL, HK and Macau). We went to the Sheung Wan MTR station and the time is 1:00am already which means no more trains going to Tsim Sha Tsui. We tried to search and look for bus but we can’t find the proper bus number. We saw men working along the highway so we asked if they know where to ride a bus going to Tsim Sha Tsui but they advised us to ride a taxi instead for our convenience. I saw a mother and her daughter passed by and she’s looking at us while we’re having a conversation with those men. When we’re looking for a taxi, I saw her again and she asked if we’re Filipino. Thank God for the helping hand of our Kabayan to find a taxi because she said that some drivers also asked for higher fares. Her name is Ate Jo and she’s from Malolos but living in Hong Kong now. She talked to the taxi driver and told him where we are going to. She even offered if we want to stay in her place for a couple of hours and just go back in the morning. But we’d rather ride a taxi because it would be too much help. Okay, so we arrived at the hostel safe and sound and it cost us 155HKD which is expensive because the driver enter the Express Way where there is toll fee which is charged to us. Good thing we brought the coins we had 2 years ago and gave the coins worth 55HKD to him. What a first day it has been. Truly a memorable experience and looking forward to see more of Macau next time. See you on our Day 2.
